There are a few techniques we can employ to keep the aggression in our poker game for those of us who don’t want to be aggressive all of the time. We do want to be aggressive, of course, but be selective about it.

First of all, we should work on our mindset before we start playing. We need to “mindset” ourselves to be aggressive. Here are a few things to keep in mind when you want to be an aggressive poker player:

1. Be negative.
If you want to be an aggressive player, don’t think positive. You have to think about your hand, what your opponent has, and what is in the pot. If you make this your mindset, you will become an aggressive player easily.

2. Become unpredictable.
You have to be unpredictable in your betting because players will still be trying to read you and predict what cards you are having. Sometimes you can give off a tell – or anything – just by playing or looking at your cards. Becoming unpredictable means that you will have more wins than losses. Players will enjoy your company and loyalty.

3. Stick to your game plan.
When you have a good hand, then don’t be afraid to play it. Follow your instinct and guess what cards your opponent has. Stick to your game plan and win.

4. Bet aggressively when you have a good hand.
Odds are you will win the pot when you h.ave a good hand. Make the most of your good hands and bet aggressively.

5. Never bluff.
Never bluff; just don’t bluff. This goes for real money, play money and even play chips. There’s no need to bluff for fun.

6. Learn to read people.
You can sometimes read people that others won’t. You learn to read the subtle tells that people reveal. When people are bluffing, you have to read what they are doing if you want them to fold. People who are difficult to read are called “lers” – for the louse bets and raises people to make on purpose.

7. Take your time to play.
Don’t feel rushed to play, but also don’t be afraid to take your time. Take the time to read your opponents, their moves, and their reactions. When you know you have a good hand, don’t be afraid to play aggressively.
